Students from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) recently designed a new vitamin box concept for a competition put on by Highcon, a 3D paper products manufacturer. Highlighting the capabilities of Highcon's digital cutting and creasing technology, the vitamin box took home second prize for its creative segmentation of each day's pills as well as its playful folding characters.
The box was designed by sophomore Kanchan Dawani and graduate student Neha Mardi. The heptagonal prism is composed of fours layers of seven triangles, each of which is meant to hold a child's daily vitamins. The four by seven division demarcates days and weeks of the month.
Beyond its clever shape and design, each of the triangles comes with a character and description -- a playful quirk that helps kids to get excited for what might otherwise be viewed as a chore.
