In an effort to compete with YouTube and encourage more "on the fly" content, Vimeo has re-developed and re-launched its Vimeo iPhone app.
The video-based social networking site is known for high quality digital video content and is often used as an art-centric alternative to the more catch-all YouTube. It was established in 2004, but recently revamped its main page and hired a new CEO.
The new Vimeo iPhone app has three key differences from the old app. Firstly, it's designed to increase upload speeds by beginning the upload as soon as the video's title is inputted. Next, for users moving in and out of different WiFi networks, the video uploads can be paused and resumed at a later time. Lastly, while a video is uploading, users can still search and view other Vimeo videos while their upload continues in the background.
