Starry Night is one of those modern masterpieces that has become somewhat of a pop culture icon, and Van Gogh for Breakfast is one creative’s way of celebrating the famous painting.
The vertiginous swirling strokes of the priceless artwork have been translated into strips of various friable meats. Instructables user CopperTwist rights that the painter’s palette should include pork bacon and turkey bacon, requiring the sculptor chef to slice each strip into ribbons, dividing up dark and light colors. With five different piles of bacon bands ranging from white, through pink and to red, the assembly could begin.
Van Gogh for Breakfast is the result of meticulous meat treatment, turning and placement, but the finish product looks undeniably like the original. This particular project is an entry in the website’s Bacon Contest—I think it’s a winner.
