A recent Department of Defense report has shown that the revolutionary new US Marine Corps Solar Program has allowed the marines and sailors of the 3rd Battalion, 5th Regiment to cut their fossil fuel dependency by over 90 percent.
Through a comprehensive initiative that included a number of foldable solar panels and some other easily managed equipment, the regiment was able to power small gadgets or even whole operation centers. The results of the US Marine Corps Solar Program did far more than just cut generator load however, as the report also found that it increased the safety of the Marines themselves by cutting down on the need for extensive convoys as well as noisy generators at night.
