UPS electric trucks will be rolling out soon as a preliminary test for an upcoming larger fleet. UPS has recently announced that 50 electric trucks, designed by Workhorse Group Inc., will be sent out into the streets of Atlanta, Dallas and Los Angeles. The new trucks will cost the same as the conventionally fueled trucks and will have a range of 100 miles in between full charges. UPS hopes that this initiave will propel the company into a more ecological space and will also eliminate emissions, noise and dependence on diesel and gasoline.
The UPS electric trucks were made closely with the Workhouse Group and took about four years to produce. This collaboration is only one part of UPS' plan to reach environmental goals, the company will also be employing more alternative fuel vehicles, including the use of Tesla electric semi trucks. By 2020 UPS is aiming for a quarter of its newly purchased vehicles to be advanced in technology and to run on alternative fuel.
