Unhosted is a cloud service that lets users store data on its browser rather than on a company server. The creator of Unhosted states that within the endless pages of contracts that most Internet users merely agree to without reading, there are some very unethical points that go unnoticed. One of these points includes the company’s right to own and sell the data that is stored on their servers and to keep all of the profit for themselves.
In order to prevent this scenerio from happening, Michiel de Jong created Unhosted that retains the file owner’s ownership. Creater of this project views his work as the "freedom from web 2.0′s monopoly platforms," and wants all tech entrepreneurs to get involved.
