Anthony Joshua entered into a partnership to create Under Armour boots for his latest bout. Under Armour used its Footwear Innovation team in order to redesign the way boxing boots are built, this was done in conjunction with studying Anthony Joshua's fights, resulting in a boot that fits his movements. The custom item was tested at the Under Armour Human Performance Center in Portland.
There is a tremendous amount of force generated in heavyweight boxing, so the boot had to be designed with this in mind. Addressing this is an outsole traction pattern used on the bottom to prevent slipping, this pattern extends to the edges of the boot, allowing for greater traction. The midsole was rounded on the Under Armour boots to allow for less constrained movement, something the boxer relies on to pivot and take angles.
