The Uber car service unveiled that it will be launching a new app caller UberCommute in Chengdu China. The app will allow drivers to share their vehicles with anyone heading in the same direction.
By increasing the number of people within the car, the app increases eco-efficiency while simultaneously reducing commuter costs. This function is essentially an addition to Uber's current mobile platform. Drivers simply type in their destination and can automatically view requests from other travelers who are heading in the same direction. If drivers want to pick up fellow commuters, they can hit accept to notify the other traveler or can just delete the request.
