Mobi is a bike sharing service that provides both regular and electric bikes for short trips within and outside UBC. Users can rent Mobi bikes through a mobile app or a smart card, and return them to any of Mobi’s stations. UBC students, faculty, and staff can benefit from lower prices for Mobi passes, which let them ride the bikes for up to 30 or 60 minutes per trip, depending on the pass type.
Mobi is working with Commute Smart at UBC, a program that promotes active and shared modes of transportation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and traffic congestion. Mobi will set up five e-bike stations on campus this fall, and aims to increase this number to ten by the summer of 2024. Mobi e-bikes can go up to 25 km/h and have a battery life of up to 60 km. They can also be picked up and dropped off at any of Mobi’s stations across UBC and the City of Vancouver.
