Commuter Tic-Tac-Toe Games

Tube Games by Thomas Wing-Evans Spurs Interaction Amongst Strangers

Passing the time on trains in the midst of so many strangers can be awkward, yet the Tube Games hopes to change that. Instead of wasting time on smartphones or flipping mindlessly through free newspapers, all the while trying to avoid making eye contact with one's neighbors, the Tube Games encourages people to interact.

Designed by Thomas Wing-Evans, a designer based in the United Kingdom, the Tube Games is essentially a suede-covered tablet that is meant to rest between the connecting door of two cars. Whoever are standing nearest can easily play the game. To do so, they mark the surface with either their Oyster card or tube passes. To wipe clean, all it takes is the palm of the hand. A simple and fun way to interact with others.
