Solar-Powered Concerts

Trapdoor Social's Concerts are Performed

Los Angeles-based band Trapdoor Social is sending out a message in sustainability. The band was formed by the meeting of two like-minds, Merritt Graves and Skylar Funk at an Environmental Analysis program in Pomona College in 2008. Since then, Trapdoor Social has stuck to its plan of making good music while doing good in the world. In the process, the band has donated a solar roofing to a local not-for-profit job training program and also helped fund a local high school band program.

Now, Trapdoor Social is set to promote solar power. The band has a trailer, which is set up with solar power-generating equipment (the rooftop has the panels and the trailer has a battery bank inside) and it generates 1.64 KW of solar power. The band plans to use it to power up the music and lights at its outdoor concerts. Trapdoor Social's first 100 percent solar powered concert is on 24th October 2015 in Los Angeles.

Trapdoor Social is promoting sustainable technology by using it in their concerts, hoping that its fans experience the solar power party first-hand.
