The new tPOD1 is a portable energy source designed by Richard Harmon at the Tellurex Corporation. tPOD1 stands for "Thermoelectric Power on Demand" and can convert heat into electricity. The device is powered by tea candles, which are available worldwide and can be made from natural and renewable materials.
To power the mini generator, simply place the candles under the tPOD1 and it will generate a one-quarter watt of power. Weighing in at 12 ounces, the device is perfect for camping trips and other outdoor excursions. It can be used to power some devices such as a camera, iPod or cell phone or be used as a valuable source of light during a power outage.
The product is currently finishing up its pledge round on Kickstarter and is set to begin shipping in August of 2012.
