Tortoise, a California-based robotic delivery provider, has announced the launch of Tortoise Smart Stores, a new semi-autonomous vehicle that can carry vending machines to serve customers during events.
According to the company, the new vending machine robots come equipped with a card reader on their lids that customers can tap with their credit cards. Once tapped, customers will be able to remove a product from the machine. In addition, Tortoise Smart Stores can be programmed to play audio messages, allowing for more interactive experiences.
So far, Chicago's Go Grocer supermarket chain and The Mini Donuts Company in San Diego have partnered with Tortoise to utilize the robot vending machines. However, Tortoise will expand its offering throughout the U.S. in states including London, New York City, Denver, Dallas, South Carolina, and more.
