Norwegian photographer Torbjorn Rodland is celebrating his first solo show in New York at the Algus Greenspon Gallery. Rodland transforms the ordinary objects and subjects in his photos into something unpredictable by infusing within them elements of surrealism, eroticism and humor. The photographer explains, "One way a photograph can be successful is it it’s a surprising but precise take on something that you suspect could become your reality."
Rodland’s unusual images include a torso wrapped in sausage-links and an empty starbucks cup propped up on a nude derriere. I would advise you not to look for rhyme or reason in Rodland’s work; simply enjoy the peculiar strangeness of his images as they come. Rodland will be at the Algus Greenspon from now through October 19th - and expect the unexpected.
