Cube-Shaped Tiny Black Cabins

Alfonso Arango Builds a Secluded Abode Amid a Mountainous Landscape

A tiny black cabin that spans over a 24 square meter plot is the latest project by architect Alfonso Arango. The cube-shaped structure is situated in La Calera — a small village in Colombia, and it occupies the space, adjacent to the architect's childhood home. The project is meant to offer a secluded and peaceful weekend retreat.

The tiny black cabin is compact, convenient and mindful. It includes a kitchen, bathroom and a living area, as well as a bedroom in the mezzanine. Due to the situational positioning of the house, the project is rather nostalgic for Alfonso Arango. However, the nearness to his childhood, as well as the engulfing beauty of the Andes mountains, will definitely foster an agreeable and peaceful weekend retreat for the architect.
