Okay I’ll admit it, I am greatly impressed by size. I love massive art sculptures! And these contorted airplane installations made by the Algerian artist Adel Abdessemed simply take my breath away.
The symbolism of tying up airplanes in knots might be an environmental statement, or perhaps there is a personal reason for doing so. The visual result, however, is grand. And I would love to camp outside the exhibition for a couple of days to really take it in.
Adel Abdessemed was born in Constantine, Algeria and now lives and works in New York. The Adel Abdessemed exhibition RIO is on at the David Zwirner gallery in New York and ends today.
