The Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera is a multi-sensor device that will be able to snap a single 360 degree photo when it reaches its apogee. It is as though it harnesses the ability flies and insects have with their compound eyes. It was developed by researchers at the Technische Universität in Berlin, Germany.
Although it looks like a cracked, neon colored soccer ball, the Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera is equipped with thirty-six two megapixel cellphone camera modules. Yet it is conveniently padded so that people can toss it around like a toy. This easy-to-use device also has a simple USB port so as to easily offload the images taken.
The Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera is set to debut during Siggraph Asia 2011 at the end of this year, where it will hopefully snag an investor.
