Furnishing Homes With Trash

The Zweitsinn Project Makes Furniture from Garbage

Zweitsinn means a second meaning, or purpose. It's also the name of a network of innovative waste companies, designers and small German manufacturers supported by the University Dortmund and the DBU, a German government foundation.

All Zweitsinn products are made of recycled goods and at Zweitsinn.de you see how much CO2 was saved as a result of utilizing used things for the production instead of manufacturing new ones.

The Zweitsinn project was exhibited at Colognes IMM 2009, and including some of the pieces featured in the gallery above, such as the retro-inspired Pixelstar products and the amazing, massive wood pieces with integrated flower boxes.
