Ship-inspired grand theatres

Architecturally, the Zhengzhou Grand Theatre has a majestic demeanor

The Zhengzhou Grand Theatre is a brand new institution in the Henan Province of China. The structure, which has a rather futuristic design that is most pronounced in its smooth metal-clad exterior, was designed by The Architectural Design and Research Institute of HIT. The State-owned Chinese firm aimed to create "the highest-level performing arts landmark in the Central Plain Region of China." The Zhengzhou Grand Theatre is tall and wide, sitting above other structures in the area. It contains a multifunctional hall, rehearsal spaces, a 1,687-seat theatre, an 884-seat concert hall, and an opera rehearsal hall. The Architectural Design and Research Institute of HIT derived inspiration from a "majestic ship" to "convey the significant culture and civilization of the Central Plain."
