The Waiex N270DC has successfully completed a short flight test in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The aircraft has been designed by Sonex, which is the standard version of Waiex kit aircraft that was under development for several years.
The aircraft is fully electric powered and features a 54-kilowatt brushless DC motor powered by a 14.5-kilowatt-hour lithium polymer battery. The Waiex N270DC also contains battery-management system, motor controller and cockpit instrumentation developed by Sonex.
Implications - With this kind of combination between motor controls and battery-management systems, there is really no reason not to be head over heels in love with the DIY experimental plane; granted, an appreciation for aircrafts and technology as a whole are likely necessary to truly appreciate all the Waiex N270DC has to offer.
