Designed by Bronwen Rees and Bryony Wood, the Stair Cubby is an innovative, eco-friendly storage solution targeted towards those living in tight spaces. Utilizing a simple cardboard and plywood construction and delivered as a flatpack unit, the space-saving design does not require tools to assemble. Rather customers can unfold the pieces and slot in the appropriate tabs to build their own DIY-inspired cubby.
The unit itself was designed to sit on two steps of stairs and comes with the option to adjust the back height. In total, the cubby offers five open-access spaces that can hold a variety of small to medium-sized items such as shoes, books, and laptops. According to the designers, the Stair Cubby consists of a 1/3 sheet of 4×8 plywood, providing just enough material to make three units.
