The University of Florida’s new infographic ‘The Psychology of Music’ reveals some truly fascinating facts regarding why humans love music, and how it can benefit our minds.
Listening to music, the infographic reveals, increases happiness, reduces anxiety and stress and can even heal some neurological disorders like Alzheimer’s and dementia. Learning how to play an instrument and read music is even more beneficial. Musicians have been found to have "super minds," leading to their scoring higher than other students on standardized tests, and graduating high school with more honors. University music students even have the highest acceptance rate into medical school of any major, at 66%.
This infographic was created by The University of Florida to show people just how important music is to our education system. Should music funding be cut in favor of athletics, many students would never realize the benefits of learning an instrument and performing in front of the crowd, something that U of F has proven is an incredibly worthwhile experience.
