The Lexus Hoverboard is officially a reality for fans and consumers.
Ever since its public debut in the Back to the Future series, the hoverboard has been a concept that has long since been in development. Lexus set it sights on innovating this popular concept and turning it into a reality.
According to pro skateboarder and hoverboard test rider Ross McGouran, "The hoverboard is constructed from an insulated core, containing HTSLs (high temperature superconducting blocks). These are housed in cryostats - reservoirs of liquid nitrogen that cool the superconductors to -197°C."
This "insulated core" technology mixed with the magnetic track that is constructed in the foundation of the hover-park keeps the board "pinned" in a state of magnetic flux, being able to support the skater's weight.
The Lexus hoverboard also uses natural bamboo and an ultra lightweight casing that makes it not only durable, but a sleek design that melds the futuristic concept with the skateboard culture that paved the way.
