The Lettuce Safe is based on the concept that lettuce is a boring and unwanted vegetable and is therefore the perfect place to hide your valuables, since nobody in their right mind would a) ever steal a lettuce and b) ever think of looking inside of your lettuce for hidden goods.
So it's a great idea in terms of practicality, but it can't be doing much for lettuce self-esteem, now can it?
Implications - Luckily lettuce isn't a person and is only a vegetable. One thing those behind the Lettuce Safe haven't considered, though, is what happens if a burglar breaks into your house, steals your stuff and decides to get comfortable by making a sandwich in your kitchen. It sounds ridiculous, but there are cases of it happening. Personally, if a burglar did that at my house and the Lettuce Safe failed, I'd be impressed with the burglar's steely nerve and belligerence. And the Lettuce Safe for trying.
