There is little mystery as to how the majority of seating objects remain balanced, but what do you think about the Hanging Chair? This contemporary example makes some sense when it's left bare, but what happens when one drapes a blanket over the back?
Roberto Paoli designed the bucket seat of the furnishing to be made from polycarbonate material. This is then padded and upholstered to take one of a few bold colors, coating the armchair completely, but leaving a horizontal gap in the backrest.
It's through this long opening that the user can feed sweaters and throws. If the fabric is long enough, it can conceal the steel wireframe structure of the Hanging Chair to produce an eye-catching illusion of a floating seat.
