This year's iteration of Lithuania's goat beauty contest took place in a village called "Ramygala," which is Lithuania's capital of culture for 2010. A total of 13 goats entered the contest, and a good-looking white goat named Grazyolyte won the title.
This traditional goat beauty contest was held to mark the 640th anniversary of the village. Goats have played an important role for the people of Ramygala since the medieval era.
Implications - Despite that fact, I'm sure it'll be hard for some people to accept goats as something other than the strange farm animal people sometimes make tasteless jokes about. I say: Leave your biases at the door, and give something celebrated by millions a chance to change your preconceived notions. It worked for me.
