North Arrow Studio Designs the Birdhouse in East Austin

North Arrow Studio recently completed a new design project that is dubbed the Birdhouse, which is an ADU that measures at 900-square feet. It also has a narrow lot of 5,900 square meters. Francisco Arrendondo, the principal architect at the studio explains that the two-bedroom and two-bathroom home is something that is "simplicity carried to the extreme."

Arrendondo continues to talk about the design, stating that "There's simplicity in the footprint, the massing, and the material palette throughout. But it's also a smart little house that makes me smile." It is placed around trees strategically in order to create a courtyard that lies between the main house and the ADU without disrupting any privacy for the living quarters.
