Tesco is launching a new initiative that will see over 425 million of its annual branded milk bottles transition to clear, recyclable caps that benefit the environment. This strategic maneuver is aimed at facilitating the recycling process and enhancing the environmental footprint of its packaging solutions.
Previously colored in red, blue, and green, Tesco's bottle caps were originally crafted from plastic material before the new update. The new initiative means that over 3,900 extra tonnes of recycled plastic can be used to create a variety of new items, including milk jugs.
"Ensuring our packaging is as sustainable as possible is really important to us, and customer feedback on our trial of these new clear milk caps has been overwhelmingly positive. We will continue to look for ways to improve the packaging of our products, and make it even easier for customers to recycle at home," said James Waddy, Tesco's category director for dairy.
