Vuzix, an American supplier of Smart Glasses and augmented reality technology, has officially partnered with TechSee, a visual assistance technology company. These two companies have teamed up in order to deliver a new "remote visual assistance solution" for field service technicians.
The new tool will come in the form of AR and computer vision-equipped eyewear. Vuzix's 'M400' and 'M4000 Smart Glasses' intend to enable on-site service technicians to receive real-time support from remote experts. The intuitive tool simply requires technicians to switch on the Smart Glasses when faced with a difficult problem. In doing so, they will be presented with a step-by-step AR-powered guide, which will overlay their vision with useful icons and information.
According to the company, the technology is capable of recognizing different devices and their specific parts with 98% accuracy. "TechSee's field service solution is a natural fit with our Smart Glasses, so we are very excited to partner with them to offer a unique computer vision-powered solution that can help technicians in both assisted service and self-service modes," said the President and Chief Executive Officer of Vuzix, Paul Travers.
