Shadow-Casting Teacups

TAZZOMBRA's Saucer is its Oblong Silhouette

The cup and saucer duo can be conceived in the simplest and most unimaginative way, as such pairs of tea-drinking crockery have existed for hundreds of years. Reinventing the way that the vessel and its dish interact, the TAZZOMBRA concept brings both pieces together by means of more than matching patterns.

Elio Di Carlo and Veronica Posada of DueAmigos Project present a conventional rounded coffee cup with a rather whimsical base. The orange, yellow and white mugs are placed atop unusual black plates, each with a bowl-like dip in the center.

It may become immediately clear that the this irregularly-shaped dish has been designed to the dimensions of the tea cup's own shadow. Complete with the outline of the gently curving handle, TAZZOMBRA is more suitably sized than most to contain your coffee and your cookies.
