Sḵwálwen Botanicals Harnesses the Power of Plants

Sḵwálwen Botanicals is range of plant-based skincare created by Indigenous ethnobotanist Leigh Joseph (Styawat) as a series of solutions for consumers to use as a way to harness the power of plants for their daily skincare routine. The products are rooted in ancestral plant knowledge and ingredients, and also focus on regenerative practices and sustainability to help strengthen an Indigenous supply chain. The solutions come in a variety of solutions for taking care of the face, body and lips, and give back to the community by using a portion of yearly sales towards supporting native plant growth on the Squamish Nation lands.

Joseph commented on Sḵwálwen Botanicals saying, "A big part of the work I’ve done overall has been to sit and learn from elders, and often the themes of those conversations are around responsibility and carrying forward and sharing knowledge that’s connected to cultural plants. I keep these conversations very close to my heart in terms of making decisions about how to grow the business."
