BLOOM and Surftech have announced that select 2018 Surftech paddle board models will feature a BLOOM deck pad.
BLOOM is known for making performance-based materials for a wide variety of industries, using algae biomass harvested from freshwater sources. This means that while BLOOM foam is not yet biodegradable, one Surftech paddleboard that used BLOOM foam returns 176 gallons of clean water to the ecosystem. BLOOM foam also keeps 123 balloons of CO2 from entering the Earth's atmosphere. The hope is that once other paddle board manufacturers take note of the collaboration, they will see its value and hop on board with BLOOM's mission to maintain clean waterways.
In recent years, stand-up paddle boarding has become increasingly popular. The BLOOM x Surftech paddle boards will help to ensure that as the sport grows, it remains sustainable and environmentally conscious.
