Microsoft Improved its Surface Pro Keyboards with the 'Flex'

The Surface Pro Flex is a newly designed keyboard from Microsoft, tailored for 2-in-1 devices. It boasts improved stability and haptics, allowing it to function even when completely detached from the Surface device. The keyboard incorporates carbon fiber supports for enhanced stability, a feature that is particularly beneficial when the Flex is used independently of the Surface, such as on a user’s lap while the tablet is placed on a desk or table. Additionally, the Surface Pro Flex includes a retractable riser at the bottom, enabling users to adjust the keyboard’s angle for optimal ergonomics. The touchpad is 14% larger than previous models and utilizes Microsoft’s Precision Haptics for more detailed feedback, which is especially helpful for individuals with limited hand mobility. For users with low vision, the keyboard offers an optional bold key font to improve readability.

The Surface Pro Flex Keyboard is set to be released on June 18, 2024, with a base price of CAD $349.99. This price does not include the Surface Slim Pen, which, if desired, brings the total cost to CAD $449.98. Special pricing is available for eligible students, parents, and teachers, potentially reducing the cost to CAD $440.99. The keyboard is compatible with the Surface Pro 8 and Pro 9, running Windows 11, allowing users of these models to upgrade without the need for a new tablet. Pre-orders are currently available, and the keyboard comes in two color options: black and bright sapphire.
