Heritage footwear company Red Wing Shoes teamed up with Nintendo and Illumination to create a pair modeled after Mario's boots from Super Mario Bros., the popular video game franchise. The boots were made in celebration of The Super Mario Bros. Movie premiere.
The prototype boots consist of natural leather material to emulate the texture of the video game model boots. It also contains slip-resistant treads for durability and movement. Additionally, the lacing system of the boots only has three eye laces. There are also The Super Mario Bros. Movie fabric tabs and heel tabs that are made of mushroom-based mycelium, which mushrooms are a theme in the video game franchise. The prototype boots will be showcased at Nintendo New York at Rockefeller Center on March 10 throughout April. The Super Mario Bros. Movie will be released in theaters on April 5.
