The Hamburg Harley Days took place while I was there at the end of June. I had a chance to check out a few hundred machines, some of them shined up and luxurious, others beastly and uber-modified.
The giant outdoor event brings in around 50,000 bikers each year and a few hundred thousand more spectators from around Europe. In 2006, there were close to 700,000 visitors who came to the event which takes place on the Heiligengeistfeld in Hamburg's famous red light district.
Along with motorcycles on display, the city turns into a huge biker-themed festival, with biker bars offering live music, professional stunts, dragster shows, a ride in bike show on Mönckebergstraße and, on the last day, a parade featuring 10,000 super Harleys.
While I didn't get a chance to snap any photos, there is a great selection on Flickr showcasing some of the best Harley Davidsons at the outdoor event, as seen in the gallery. They include shots from this year, 2007 and 2006 shots. My favourite photos have to be the old man smoking and the tattooed couple on the bike!
