In this episode of Op-Docs from the New York Times, reporter Joshua Z Weinstein captures the dance moves of young men as they perform on public transportation, slowing it down considerably so that it takes on the form of Subway Ballet.
In the interview, the boys define themselves as "part time strippers" because they are performing exotic dance moves on poles, albeit they are not actually removing any clothing while doing so. They do, however, appreciate attention from the ladies, boasting that they've gotten hundreds of phone numbers from older women.
A mixture of hip hop and breakdance, the aerial aerobics are slowed down so much in this video that they look more like the graceful movements of a professional ballerina in an unusual setting, thus the name Subway Ballet.
