Spacious Oak Bakeries

Skyle Bakery Features an Industrial Design

The Style Bakery enlisted architecture studio SNARK to lead an aesthetic overhaul for the brands location in Kiryu, Japan. If well received, the makeover could potentially be applied to other branches.

The architects chose wooden surfaces, ceramic tiles, large pendant lamps and grey steel frames for the space. The cool, industrial look is softened by the flood of natural light and abundant plant life. The windows, which are maximized for height and width, are framed by a slim border, adding a refreshing element to the room. Sunao Koase, principal of SNARK, explains, "Using the light grey as the concept color of the brand, the shop holds the sense of unity, and the bright and clean atmosphere."

Customers enter the bakery through a glazed door set in a transparent facade. Inside, the white-painted interior is complemented by sturdy oak surfaces that proudly display freshly baked bread and decadently sugared pastries.
