Studio Libeskind Designs an Extension of the Boerentoren Tower

Polish-American architect Daniel Libeskind of Studio Libeskind designs a new modern extension to the notable Boerentoren tower located in Antwerp, Belgium.

This tower is transforming into a 'public space for art' and it was announced by the studio to a Flemish broadcaster VRT, stating that "In its day the Boerentoren was an unprecedented art deco design, just like the Empire State Building in New York, where I live. It was a private building with flats and offices. Today we are transforming the entire complex into a public space for art." The restoration work has begun and notably, it will not exceed the cathedral height. It will also add a glass tower to the back side of the elevated surface.
