Modernizing Chinese Festivals

Studio Leung Printable Offerings

The 1st day of the 5th solar term is the Qingming for people to go outside and enjoy the greenery of springtime and to tend to the graves of departed ones. The Qingming(Clear Bright) Chinese Festival is on the 15th day after the Spring Equinox occurring around April 5 of the Gregorian calendar. During this festival, it is tradition to burn replicas of useful items as offerings for the dead. That's where "Printable Offerings" come in.

Nicolas Cheng and Michael Leung of Studio Leung have created "Printable Offerings". These are images of every day use such as iPhones, cigarettes, wallets etc. These images can be downloaded, printed and assembled in 3-D models for use at the upcoming Qingming Festival. Great idea!
