The military is known for their usage of camouflage uniforms to remain unseen by their enemies, but these stunning images of arachnid camouflage and mimicry show some more natural masters of disguise.
Some spider species are especially known for their ability to adapt to their environment, a move that allows them to avoid predators and ambush their prey. One of the most impressive mimicry techniques is that of the salticidae spider mimicking an ant. Cleverly, these spiders keep their front legs over their head in an imitation of the antennae of ants who have just six legs and two antennae.
Other spiders imitate leaves, twigs, flowers, and even poo in an effort to hunt down their prey.
