Japanese-based studio 'Starpilots' designed this Tokyo home that has been separated into three different removable sections.
The two-storey home can actually have two thirds of it's three-part structure removed and still function fully as a comfortable living space. 'Starpilots' chose to approach its design this way because of a ruling by the city that made sections of the land designated towards road construction. If in the future the city does decide to build a road, two of the home's three volumes can easily be removed from the structure.
The 2,100 square foot home actually fulfills multiple purposes, with the ground floor designated to a family funeral home business and the top floor containing the family's living quarters. A grassy courtyard between both the parent's and children's rooms was also constructed to provide an airy and green outdoor space.
