British practice Surman Weston uses chromatic stained glass dividers to breathe new life into a Victorian-styled Methodist church in the London borough of Islington. The project ultimately resulted in the conversion of the space to an open-plan office that boasts uplifting and bright design motifs.
The rearrangement of the new space "alludes to the building's history." The hardwood floors and the minimalist furnishings in the new office communicate a light and welcoming ambiance. The key design motif, however, is contained in the kaleidoscopic stained glass divider that boasts a simple Harlequin pattern in "muted green, blue, orange and red." The added transparency of the glass and its reflective qualities truly adds another modern twist to the newly renovated English Methodist church.
