One might usually examine the legs of a chair to determine the strength and the stability of it, but that's because few chairs suggest weakness in the seat as the Split Chair does. Naturally, Roni Shalmon designed this piece of timber furniture to be sufficiently sturdy; however, the way that it has been shaped is a quirky detail that may rouse suspicion.
A quick glance might lead you to think that this task chair takes a fairly simple composition, but a closer look reveals the branching connections of the rear posts, the outward-angled supports and, of course, the seat with its inverted bevelling. The lateral groove in the Split Chair is more than just a playful detail, though. When you sit down into it, the base of your pelvic bones is comfortably cradled.
