Spacey Digital Art Collections

'Space is the Place' Was Created for Electric Objects' Frames

'Space is the Place' is a new digital art collection based on real images from NASA telescopes. The project combines the efforts of technological artists Adam Ferriss and Pi-Slices, and the pieces of hybridized photography are all optimized for presentation on Electric Objects' EO2 digital art frames.

Though both Adam Ferriss and Pi-Slices use the same astronomical images for their artworks, the two artists approach the subject matter from antithetical perspectives. Ferriss uses an open source pixel-sorting algorithm to transform the raw photography into deep and diversely layered chasms, looking as much like inward and earthly chasms as like celestial scopes. Pi-Slices, on the other hand, pares down the NASA images to present a sleekly minimalist version of outer space.

Thanks to the digital nature of Electric Objects' EO2 frames, several of the pieces in Space is the Place have moving elements designed into them.
