In the name of making space education exciting and engaging for youth, writer and speaker Mike Mongo is creating ' The Astronaut Instruction Manual for Preteens.'
Currently, Mongo travels around the United States and internationally to countries like Jamaica, Haiti and Cuba, teaching kids that they, too, can be astronauts -- or if not, that they can pursue their passions in life. His main message is "space is for everyone." While the astronauts of the Apollo missions in the 60s and 70s were all white men, today, a world of possibilities has opened up to anyone with a dream and the strength to follow it.
The Astronaut Instruction Manual for Preteens furthers space education through inspiration and critical thinking, asking kids about their dreams for their future careers and what those careers might look like if they took place in space.
