Space X Partners with GEC In Effort to Begin Running Ads in Space

Space X has partnered with Canadian start-up Geometric Energy Corporation in an effort to make space advertising a reality. The two companies plan to launch a high-tech, digital billboard into orbit, which brands can then purchase ad space on.

Space X plans to launch the billboard – technically a satellite called 'CubeSat' – with its Falcon 9 rocket that will release it into orbit while on its way to the moon. The pixellated screen on the 'CubeSat' will be able to display ads, videos, logos, and art. It will also be equipped with a large "selfie-stick," which will record the screen and live stream it on Youtube and Twitch, so those interested can view the ads from Earth.

Landing a spot on 'CubeSat' will be given to the highest bidder, who will purchase "tokens" that they can use to adjust the length of the ad, as well its color, coordinates, and brightness.
