A China-Based Start-Up is Beginning Solid-State Battery Production

Lithium-ion batteries are utilized in almost all pieces of modern technology but China-based Qing Tao Energy Development Co is hoping to replace this tech with its new solid-state battery. According to early reports, the start-up already deployed a production line for these batteries. The solid-state battery offers better performance compared to its lithium-ion counterpart and already has a capacity of 100MWH per year. The company also stated that the new batteries have an energy density of 400Wh/kg, compared to the 250-300Wh/kg of new generation lithium-ion batteries.

Qing Tao Energy Development Co has yet to state what the solid-state battery designs could be used for but it would be safe to assume they would have a great impact on long-range electric vehicles. The batteries could also see effective usage in smart electronics as their capacity for energy is considerably higher than current offerings.
