Architects often find inspiration in unlikely places, so it should come as no surprise that Montreal's latest restaurant is a New Balance sneaker-inspired eatery. Designed by David Dworkind, Falafel Yoni features a unique color scheme that draws heavily on a particularly classic New Balance sneaker. The eatery focuses primarily on the gray and red tones of the trainers but also breaks up the two-tone design with salvaged wood and small pops of texture with the asphalt floors.
Customers coming into the sneaker-inspired eatery can enjoy their meals on a pair of curved bars topped with laser-cut steel. The entirety of the space carries a "diner feel" and was purposefully laid out to respond to the city's zoning regulations that only allow the restaurant to serve 12 people in its 950-square-foot space. Included in the eatery is a washbasin, made from rolled steel, designed to allow customers to clean their hands before and after they enjoy their meal.
