As with all things, the Google Cardboard has finally been improved upon via the SmartVR by Dodocase. Although not part of Google at all, it's offers great competition in that it is not only cheaper than the Oculus Rift, but it is also smaller and much more stylish. As people continue to embrace virtual reality entertainment, such a design update was inevitable.
Made out of black nylon, the SmartVR by Dodocase collapses into a thin rectangle when not in use. When in use, two hinged wings flap open to hold a smartphone as well as a protective lens cover over the top to keep the light out. Currently seeking funds on Indiegogo, the first units are positioned to be delivered out by June of this year.
