Texas-based startup company Coop has launched a smart-designed chicken coop, The Coop, made for the ordinary consumer. The chicken coop was worked on in collaboration with Bould Design. The chicken coop comprises a shelter called the Roost and a detachable fenced outdoor area known as the Run.
The chicken coop can also hold up to six chickens. The Roost is made of double-walled recyclable plastic, and the walls have an air gap for insulation. The chicken coop has an integrated ambient light sensor that automatically opens the shelter's door during sunrise and closes during sunset. Consumers can observe the chickens through the two HD night-vision cameras; one is placed in the Roost and one in the Run. In case of a predator, consumers can remotely trigger the SOS mode. The SOS mode illuminates both camera lights, closes the Roost's door if left open, and plays dog barking sounds through the integrated speakers. As for egg collecting, consumers can collect the eggs through the pullable nesting box from outside the Roost. The Coop is available for $2,495.
